It has always been God’s greatest wish to be with us. He is all about Love and loving relationships, and open communication, fulfillment, happiness, and hugs. When He created this world He made it with those things in His heart.

Everything changed when God’s enemy took control of this planet through deceit and evil craft. The hearts of those God loved distrusted and feared Him thanks to the thought suggestions of that enemy, and selfishness, heartache and evil soon outweighed the good, everywhere. Yet, still He longed to be with each one – especially the deceived, fearful, and distrusting ones.

On the surface it all looked rather impossible. Yet, because God’s love is so great, nothing can be hopeless, and at just the right moment in time He put a plan in place that would turn the tide of sorrow and pain, and pave the way for everything to be brought back to where it should be…

Down through the ages of history there have always been some who understood the heart of God and enjoyed communicating with Him. He blessed them with promises that He would send His dearest Treasure to them so they would be able to really know Him in a more personal and familiar way. These promises had been told to the next generations and then written down to bring hope to everyone willing to listen and believe them:

“Therefore, the Lord Himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call His name Immanuel (God with us).”
“For unto us a Child is born; unto us a Son is given, and the government shall be upon His shoulders, and His Name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, Almighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
“Comfort, comfort My people, says your God. Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and proclaim to her that her hard service has been completed, that her sin has been paid for… In the desert prepare the way for the Lord; make straight in the wilderness a highway for our God… And the glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all mankind together will see it. For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”
“In that day the Root of Jesse will stand as a banner for the peoples; the nations will rally to Him, and His place of rest will be glorious. In that day the Lord will reach out His hand a second time to reclaim the remnant that is left of His people…”
“He tends His flock like a Shepherd: He gathers the lambs in His arms, and carries them close to His heart; He gently leads those that have young.” (Isaiah the prophet)

To those who longed for Him, these words were so precious. The moment came, and every angel in heaven watched with bated breath as their beloved Leader left the majesty, holiness and purity of the heavenly courts to link heaven with earth in the womb of Mary; to be born and grow up in a world groaning with the pain of sin. He would be one of us – the Son of God and now, also, the Son of man. With the loving heart of the Father He was sent; God’s precious gift, given to you and me.

The exact year of this miracle had been foretold to the prophet Daniel. Everyone should have known it was about to happen, and been watching for Him, but most people had forgotten, or no longer believed. The enemy’s deceptions kept them too busy to search the scriptures, or, if they did read, kept them from focusing on those promises.

In the end, only a few shepherds were able to appreciate the glory of the moment when He was born.

The angels were bursting with amazed wonder and excitement as the minutes leading up to delivery were counted off. The fact that He had chosen to be born in the most humble of conditions and circumstances spoke volumes to each one of the love He had for even the most insignificant person here. That He would stoop so low in love just increased their devotion to Him; their eagerness to serve Him.

The moment arrived, and signaled the angels to burst forth into songs of joy and wonder:

“Glory to God in the highest! Peace on earth! Goodwill to mankind!”
Each put their whole heart into the music and light-display for the shepherds, while one moved closer to give them the precious announcement:
“Unto you is born this day, in the city of David, a Saviour which is Christ the King! You will find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger!”

“Unto you!” Not unto Mary and Joseph only, but unto you. The Father’s gift of love, sent to woo you into a love relationship with Him; sent to save you from the clutches and influence of the enemy; sent to draw you, into the loving embrace of a heavenly Father, to whom you are a treasure.

I am praying for you,

Erna
