“He shall cover thee with His feathers, and under His wings shalt thou trust: His truth shall be thy shield and buckler.” Psalm 91:4.

The flight of the bumblebee has been a long held mystery to scientists. How can the small wings lift the unproportionately large body of the bee? It was not until modern times that this puzzle was solved. The secret is that bumblebees levitate. They are able to flap their wings at a speed of 230 flaps per second. Unlike birds which flap their wings in an up and down motion, a bumblebee flaps its wings in a circular motion. This motion creates a low pressure region above the bee’s wings. As pressure goes down, more air comes in, inviting the air beneath to move upwards. This flow of air creates the ability for the bee to ride the air, thus levitating. It is not the wings of the bees that carry them, rather, it is the motion of their wings that create an environment in which they can be carried by the air beneath. This reminds me of the power of faith and prayer.

Many times we find ourselves in an impossible position. Life can be unbarring, hopeless, and frightful, but we should ever keep in mind that we know the God who says “all things are possible to him that believeth.” Mark 9:23. By praying, we create an environment for the impossible to become a possibility. By faith and belief we allow God to work. In God’s mysterious way, He can carry us through the hard times. He promises

“Ye have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagle’s wings, and brought you unto myself.” Exodus 19:4.

In an impossible situation, surrounded by a fierce army, God brought His children out of Egypt. His method could never have been predicted. Never before had someone heard of or witnessed the sea parting. God wondrously worked and a miracle took place, opening the way for the freedom of the Israelites.

Let us keep His word close to our hearts to cheer us on this pilgrim journey and keep a prayer on our lips, so that He can work out our problems in His mysterious way.

May God bless you and keep you.
