PrayerI was flying with a few others in an aircraft, viewing the spectacular fall scenery in the mountains, below.  It was amazing, and we were enjoying the ride, when suddenly we were caught in some power wires and began to plummet down the face of a massive cliff to destruction below.  At first I experienced fear, but as the inevitable grew closer, I realized in a moment I would see Jesus, and I shouted joyfully, “I’m yours, Jesus! I’ll see you soon!!”

I woke before the fatal crash, with the strong impression that this was an important message from God.  Was it for me?  or for others?  What could it mean?  I prayed for God to show me, and opened my Bible.  The first verses I read were these:

“People from many nations will pass by this city and ask each other, ‘Why has the Lord done this to this important city?’  The answer will be: ‘They rejected the promise of the Lord their God. They worshiped other gods and served them.’”  Jer 22:8-9 (GW)

“Woe to him who builds his house by unrighteousness, and his upper rooms by injustice …”  Jer 22:13 (ESV)
“Do you think you’re a better king than others because you use more cedar?

Your father ate and drank and did what is fair and right.  Everything went well for him.

He defended the cause of the poor and needy.  Everything went well for him.

Isn’t this what it means to know me?” asks the Lord.  Jer 22:15-16 (GW)

I wasn’t sure what to make of it – my mind was boggled by it all.
But, I needed to write to all of you, so I asked God what He wanted to say to you today, and these are the verses He gave me for you:

“Wail, you shepherds, and cry out, and roll in ashes, you lords of the flock, for the days of your slaughter and dispersion have come, and you shall fall like a choice vessel. No refuge will remain for the shepherds, nor escape for the lords of the flock. A voice—the cry of the shepherds, and the wail of the lords of the flock! For the Lord is laying waste their pasture,  and the peaceful folds are devastated because of the fierce anger of the Lord. Jer 25:34-37 (ESV)

(And, from my study of this chapter before, I understand that the fierce anger of the Lord is against sin and what it does to the people He loves, not fierce anger against people.)
All I can say is this:  For God to be sending this kind of message out today can only mean one thing – that Jesus is coming very, very soon – sooner than we may expect it.  Things are going to crumble all around us and we will find ourselves in circumstances that will be the enemy’s attempt to break our hold on Jesus, and sever our trust of Him.

“Isn’t my word like fire or like a hammer that shatters a rock?” asks the Lord.  “I’m against the prophets who steal my words from each other,” declares the Lord.  “I’m against the prophets who speak their own thoughts and say that they speak for me.  I’m against those who prophesy dreams they made up,” declares the Lord.  Jer 23:29-32 (GW)

Serious things to pray through, but, God’s promises are sure!

Then I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all the countries where I have driven them, and I will bring them back to their fold, and they shall be fruitful and multiply.  I will set shepherds over them who will care for them, and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall any be missing, declares the Lord.  Jer 23:3-4 (ESV)

I will give them a heart to know Me, that I am the Lord. They will be my people, and I will be their God, for they will turn to me with all their heart..  Jer 24:7 (NIV)

I’m still not completely sure how to take all this, but I’m praying He will make it clear to each of you as He desires.  God loves you, that I know for certain.
I’m praying for you!
